Successful candidates will work autonomously and as part of a wider team, delivering immunisations and vaccinations to primary school children. The role requires travelling to schools, a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate effectively with other team members, parents, carers and school staff.
  • Deliver a quality immunisation service to primary school children, including nasal and intramuscular flu and other vaccine programmes within community and educational settings.
  • Act as lead clinician on immunisation sessions and collaborate with the administration team and school staff.
  • Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs, and compliance with cold chain procedures.
  • Practice infection‑control measures according to local and national guidelines.
  • Manage patient information in accordance with GDPR and Freedom of Information Act, ensuring records are accurate and stored properly.
  • Identify, prioritise and implement programmes of care that meet patient needs, taking into account risk management (consent, side effects).
  • Take responsibility for continuing professional development, keeping current with CPD and evidence‑based best practice.
  • Support shared learning, networking across immunisation teams, and apply safeguarding policies for children and adults.
  • Promote equality and diversity practices within the team and service provision.
  • Take reasonable care of health and safety for self and others and co‑operate with the employing body to adhere to statutory regulations.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Current registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Evidence of professional development and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel to schools.

Desirable:

  • Up‑to‑date CPR and anaphylaxis training.
  • Foundation immunisation training.
  • Experience working with school‑aged children and safeguarding children (Level 2).
  • Experience delivering travel vaccinations and childhood immunisations.
  • Experience supervising Health Care Assistants.
