Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with other team members, parents, carers and school staff.
- Deliver a quality immunisation service to primary school children, including nasal and intramuscular flu and other vaccine programmes within community and educational settings.
- Act as lead clinician on immunisation sessions and collaborate with the administration team and school staff.
- Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs, and compliance with cold chain procedures.
- Practice infection‑control measures according to local and national guidelines.
- Manage patient information in accordance with GDPR and Freedom of Information Act, ensuring records are accurate and stored properly.
- Identify, prioritise and implement programmes of care that meet patient needs, taking into account risk management (consent, side effects).
- Take responsibility for continuing professional development, keeping current with CPD and evidence‑based best practice.
- Support shared learning, networking across immunisation teams, and apply safeguarding policies for children and adults.
- Promote equality and diversity practices within the team and service provision.
- Take reasonable care of health and safety for self and others and co‑operate with the employing body to adhere to statutory regulations.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Current registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Evidence of professional development and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel to schools.

- Up‑to‑date CPR and anaphylaxis training.
- Foundation immunisation training.
