Job description

Position: Translation Proofreader (French speaking preferred)

Company: Intonation

Location: Remote (with option to transition to office-based)

Summary:

Intonation is seeking a detail-oriented Translation Proofreader (preferably French speaking). This role offers a fantastic opportunity to break into the translation industry, providing the chance to build contacts and gain insider knowledge of a translation company's practices. Success in this role means delivering high-quality, accurate translations and maintaining effective communication with both translators and clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Proofreading: Primarily English/French and with other language combinations possible, with a focus on technical translations including patents.
  • Quality assurance: Conduct QA checks for translations in various languages.
  • Liaison: Serve as a point of contact for translators and occasionally for clients.
  • Translation & Project management: Provide translation and project management support as needed.

Qualifications and skills requirements:

  • Language skills: Proficiency in French is essential (mother tongue preferred, but a degree in Modern Languages or equivalent is acceptable).
  • Education: MA or BA in Modern Languages or a related field is preferred.
  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial.
  • Additional skills (advantageous):

Proficiency in other languages.

Knowledge of CAT tools.

Experience in technical translation.
