Main purpose of the role:
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager leads on the health, safety and environmental programs and policies for Intoheat at a strategic level. This role ensures compliance with UK regulatory requirements and ensures a culture of safety within the organisation.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Lead the HSE team on all activity whilst ensuring compliance with UK HSE regulations and standards (e.g. Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency).
- Weekly visits to both Bristol & Exeter Head Office and its associated sites to conduct Audits, Toolbox talks and provide regular HSE presence.
- Line management of the HSE team, completing 1:1’s in line with the company’s appraisal process, advocating for their training and development.
- Identification and assessment of potential hazards and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, to prevent accidents and ill-health across the organisation.
- Investigation of HSE incidents and near-misses, determine root causes and develop corrective actions with the support of the HSE team.
- Tracking and reporting on KPIs; both internally and on our supply chain to report to the board regularly.
- Development and implementation of safety management systems, policies, and procedures.
- Risk analysis and effective assessment of management systems against ISO 45001.
- Lead on HSE inspections and internal audits to ensure workplace compliance with safety standards.
- Lead on all HSE-related issues, providing sound guidance and support to staff and management.
- Lead on ISO certification and aid with SSIP accreditations and tender submissions.
- Promote continuous improvement in SHE practices and performance through regular review and updating of policies and procedures.
- Responding to out of hours calls.
- Any other reasonable task to ensure the smooth running of the business.
Person Specification:
Knowledge and experience of:
- Senior, hands on, workplace HSE experience within a similar industry, with a passion and enthusiasm for health, safety and environmental compliance.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of UK HSE regulations and standards.
- Conducting in-depth incident investigations and interpretations of accident and incident data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Inc. Excel and PowerPoint).
- CertIOSH, ideally working towards Chartered level.
- Degree/Equivalent experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
- NEBOSH Qualification or NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety.
- First Aid at Work.
- Fire Marshall.
