Job Description

  • Department: Bristol Office
  • Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
  • Reports to: Retail Contracts Manager
  • Main purpose of the role

The Project Manager will have responsibility for the safe delivery of retail projects, on time and in line with the commercial expectations.

  • Key tasks and responsibilities
  • Ensuring all customer requests are acknowledged and contractual obligations are met
  • Responsible for producing and issuing estimates and quotations to the client
  • Responsible for expenditure on projects allocated
  • Attending meetings in line with the client expectations
  • Ensuring all projects are closed within the timelines agreed
  • Procurement and coordination of materials, utilising better buying practices to maximise commercial gain
  • Procurement and coordination of contractors and specialists, utilising better buying practices to maximise commercial gain
  • Ensuring sufficient installation labour is sourced to meet the project requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring all legislative documentation is collated and issued in line with company procedures.
  • Responsible for the collation of project certification and literature and issuing of O&M’s.
  • Creation, issue and continual updating of the project CDM documentation for the project duration
  • Work with Health & Safety on toolbox talks / site audits and ensuring all aspects of the site are carried out in line with current legislation
  • Management of all project costs working closely with accounts
  • To be available at programme critical times including outside of normal working hours (travel and flexibility is essential in this role, including overnight stays)
  • Undertake any other duties as required for the smooth running of the business.

Person specification

Must have Experience

  • Working in a busy and diverse Mechanical or Electrical (or both!) Project Management role
  • CSCS card
  • Full UK Driving licence
  • 3+ years of construction management experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
  • Experience managing budgets and schedules
  • Competence using project management software (e. g., Procore, MS Project)
  • Experience of delivering projects in excess of £250k
  • First Aid at Work
  • Fire Marshall
  • IOSH
  • HNC level education
  • CDM
  • SMSTS / SSSTS training

  • Be a problem solver, using discretion to direct enquiries where appropriate to ensure business efficiency
  • The ability to communicate effectively across all levels and locations within the business
  • Sound organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a wider team
