This role is known internally as a Justice/Project Support Worker.

SALARY: £24,520 per annum + Unsocial Hours + Benefits

LOCATION: Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England (NE4 6) Fully Site Based

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent - with casual contracts also available for ad hoc cover

WORKING HOURS: Average 37 Hours per Week on a 7 week rota; shifts are primarily afternoon/evening and waking nights, including days and weekends.

CASUAL WORKING HOURS: Flexible / Casual Hours also Available (will be discussed during interview stage)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Criminal Justice Support Worker to join a residential service providing a safe, structured and supportive environment for adults within the criminal justice system. As a Criminal Justice Support Worker you will engage residents from arrival through to move-on, delivering structured activities that promote independence, rehabilitation and positive behaviour change. You will support safeguarding, monitor wellbeing, maintain accurate records and contribute to a safe, clean and well-managed residential setting.

DUTIES

  • Resident Engagement: Supporting residents through structured daily activities and meaningful interaction
  • Partnership Working: Liaising with Probation, Police, Health and Housing services
  • Wellbeing Monitoring: Checking welfare and recognising progress and achievements
  • Life Skills Support: Delivering sessions on budgeting, shopping and accessing benefits
  • Practical Assistance: Supporting access to external services, paperwork and move-on accommodation
  • Induction Support: Assisting new residents to understand expectations, rules and procedures
  • Safeguarding Compliance: Identifying and escalating concerns in line with risk management plans
  • Health and Safety: Maintaining a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors
  • Medication Procedures: Following prescribed processes and protocols
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and completing incident reports

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work shifts including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Strong communication skills with empathy and discretion
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Fully mobile and able to access multi-floor properties via stairs

DESIRABLE

  • Previous experience in a residential care or supported housing setting
  • Experience supporting behaviour change and rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of the social care or criminal justice sector
