Job Overview

  • SALARY: Β£24,520 per annum + Unsocial Hours + Benefits
  • LOCATION: Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England (NE4 6) – Fully Site Based
  • JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent – with casual contracts also available for ad hoc cover.
  • WORKING HOURS: Average 37 Hours per Week on a 7 week rota – shifts are primarily afternoon/evening and waking nights. However, will also include days and weekends.

The shifts include:

  • 08:00 – 16:30
  • 11:00 – 23:30
  • 12:30 – 00:00
  • 14:00 – 23:30
  • 14:00 – 00:00
  • 16:00 – 23:30
  • 16:00 – 00:00
  • 23:30 – 08:30

CASUAL WORKING HOURS: Flexible / Casual Hours also Available (will be discussed during interview stage).

Duties

  • Resident Engagement: Supporting residents through structured daily activities and meaningful interaction.
  • Partnership Working: Liaising with Probation, Police, Health and Housing services.
  • Wellbeing Monitoring: Checking welfare and recognising progress and achievements.
  • Life Skills Support: Delivering sessions on budgeting, shopping and accessing benefits.
  • Practical Assistance: Supporting access to external services, paperwork and move-on accommodation.
  • Induction Support: Assisting new residents to understand expectations, rules and procedures.
  • Safeguarding Compliance: Identifying and escalating concerns in line with risk management plans.
  • Health and Safety: Maintaining a safe environment for staff, residents and visitors.
  • Medication Procedures: Following prescribed processes and protocols.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and completing incident reports.

Candidate Requirements

Essential
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work shifts including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills with empathy and discretion.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Fully mobile and able to access multi-floor properties via stairs.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a residential care or supported housing setting.
  • Experience supporting behaviour change and rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of the social care or criminal justice sector.
