An exciting opportunity for a Deputy Manager with experience in domestic abuse, safeguarding and staff management to support high-quality safe accommodation and community services, ensuring survivors are protected, empowered and supported to move forward safely.
Salary: £33,000 per annum + Benefits
Location: On site in Bexhill and Eastbourne, East Sussex - with regular travel to Crowborough and Seaford
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 5:00pm and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, plus participation in an out-of-hours rota.
Responsibilities
- Providing effective line management and professional support to operational staff.
- Promoting high-quality, trauma-informed and survivor-centred practice.
- Ensuring risks are effectively managed to maintain safe environments for survivors, staff and the wider community.
- Supporting the day-to-day management of refuge buildings and community support provision.
- Overseeing referrals, waiting lists and case allocation in line with contractual timeframes.
- Supporting performance management and providing reports to the Service Manager.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with commissioners and external stakeholders.
- Coordinating training, briefings and continuous professional development opportunities.
- Ensuring adherence to safeguarding, organisational and contractual requirements.
- Supporting accurate case recording and contributing to commissioner reporting.
- You will be expected to be part of an out of hours on-call rota across evenings and weekends. There is additional payment for this.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working within domestic abuse, safeguarding or related support services.
- Experience of supervising staff with line management responsibilities.
- A strong understanding of housing, mental health, legal protections, safety planning and risk management.
- Experience of multi-agency working and partnership engagement.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and inclusive practice.
- Experience of managing risk and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
- Strong communication, negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Ability to evaluate outcomes, analyse data and contribute to service improvement.
- Experience supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the additional barred list check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre-employment process for any successful candidate.
