This is a remote position. This role is based in a South America region on a hybrid basis. We are searching for an Environmental Inspector on a contract (freelance) basis, to be responsible for active monitoring of offshore petroleum operations and ensure ecological protection. You will be the "eyes and ears" on the ground (and sea) to ensure environmental permits are respected. 12 month rolling contract, full-time, daily rate available.
Responsibilities
- Perform offshore inspections to monitor waste management, chemical use, and emissions.
- Verify that operators are adhering to their environmental management plans.
- Collect and review environmental samples or data from offshore sites.
- Report on environmental performance and contribute to annual compliance reviews.
- Support the Environmental Manager in investigating any reports of environmental damage.
Requirements
- At least five years of professional experience in environmental regulation within a high-hazard industrial sector. This includes a proven track record in the critical review and assessment of technical environmental impact studies, safety management frameworks, and other complex regulatory submissions.
- Technical experience in environmental monitoring or inspection within oil and gas.
- Knowledge of offshore chemical regulations and waste disposal protocols.
- Ability to work independently in remote and challenging offshore environments.
- Degree in a relevant science discipline or significant equivalent industry experience.
- Strong observational skills and the ability to document findings accurately.
