We are seeking a high-calibre Head of HSE to lead a critical regulatory function for a major offshore energy project. This pivotal role involves overseeing the development and implementation of safety and environmental frameworks during a high-pressure exploration and drilling phase. The position is a 4-year fixed term contract, based in the South America region on a full-time onsite basis with a full relocation package provided, including a pension scheme and over 40 days of annual leave.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic direction of the HSE department, ensuring all offshore operations meet stringent international regulatory standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for safety case reviews and environmental impact assessments.
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of managers and inspectors to ensure compliance across all active offshore installations.
- Develop and maintain robust emergency response and crisis management protocols.
- Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on legislative changes and risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Chartered status in a relevant professional body (e.g., CMIOSH).
- Extensive experience in a senior regulatory or leadership role within the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Comprehensive experience in leading complicated and large-scale teams and HSE regulatory programmes.
- Proven track record of managing safety frameworks for complex subsea or drilling projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups.
