Location: Cambridgeshire (with regional travel)
We’re supporting a growing renewable energy business delivering and operating large scale solar and battery storage projects across the UK and Europe. They are looking to bring in an experienced Solar Technician to support the maintenance, testing, and optimisation of ground mounted PV assets. This role suits someone comfortable working on operational sites, not just installation, someone who can fault find, test, and keep assets performing.
The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across utility scale solar PV sites
- Diagnose faults across DC, AC, and communication systems
- Perform testing including string testing, insulation resistance, IV curve tracing, and thermal imaging
- Support commissioning and inspection of AC systems in line with BS7671
- Work with monitoring systems (data loggers, sensors, comms equipment)
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure works are delivered safely and to standard
- Support minor works and reporting alongside asset/operations teams
- Contribute to on call rota
What They’re Looking For
- Experience working on ground mounted / utility scale solar PV (not just domestic/commercial rooftops)
- Strong fault finding capability across electrical and PV systems
- Hands on experience with AC/DC testing equipment
- Good understanding of site based health & safety practices
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- AM2
- 18th Edition (BS7671)
Desirable (not essential):
- 2391 Test & Inspection
- ECS Card
- HV / AP authorisation
- SMSTS
