I'm currently working with an innovative technology business operating at the forefront of renewable energy and autonomous drone inspection technology. They're looking to add an experienced Senior Android Developer to their growing software team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on software that's used in real world environments, developing Android applications that control autonomous drone operations and contribute to the inspection of critical energy infrastructure across the globe.
The Role
- You'll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining Android applications used for drone navigation, mission planning and flight control.
- Working closely with software engineers and operational teams, you'll help take products from concept through to customer release.
- This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll be trusted to solve complex technical problems and make a genuine impact on product development.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Android applications for drone navigation and control.
- Integrate the DJI Mobile SDK (or similar) to deliver reliable flight and mission control capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional software and operations teams.
- Support drone pilots during field testing and operational deployments.
- Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from planning and architecture through to testing and release.
- Help shape future product functionality and technical direction.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' commercial Android development experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience integrating the DJI Mobile SDK or another drone control SDK.
- Strong track record of delivering production-ready Android applications.
- Experience taking products from concept through to release.
- Good understanding of geospatial data and spatial reasoning.
- Comfortable working closely with operational teams and supporting field deployments.
