As the Certification Engineer, you will provide support to the current certification team and simultaneously develop specialist technical skills and knowledge to interpret and support client requirements against different standards and schemes through various activities. The role of Certification Engineer comes with excellent and necessary training to support and develop you within this role. The position will entail following processes and procedures of the broader team and the wider organisation in order to best support colleagues and clients within certification.
Key activities:
- Conducts certification reviews of test reports and technical files against the Product Scheme and standards including preparation of issuance of certificates.
- Assesses client’s approval requirements against published approvals standards and develops test programmes to support certification requirements.
- Assists commercial teams with the preparation of quotations and attendance at key commercial/technical meetings as required.
- Ensures compliance with accreditations and works to acquire new accreditations, where market need exists including liaising with external accreditors and the quality team as required.
- Acts as a source of technical expertise across a range of standards and is technically proficient in multiple engineering disciplines.
- Ensures internal processes and procedures are followed in execution of work.
- Delivers technically sound and on-time certification recommendations ensuring best in class customer service to exceed client expectations.
- Undertakes revenue earning work through auditing, certification, or similar providing accurate forecasts of activity completion.
- Represents Intertek's interests with external bodies (e.g. standards committees; Scheme Working Groups).
- Produces technical whitepapers and other marketing material as required.
Previous experience in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, either professional experience or through relevant education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal). Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities. Ability to scrutinise and compare technical documents. Good IT literacy skills (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of Fire Detection products is advantageous. Knowledge of ISO 17065 and/or ISO 17025 is advantageous.
