Intertek Electrical are currently recruiting for a Test Engineer specialising in Medical product lines. A Medical Engineer shall provide technical assessment and authorisation of approvals & projects and to act as a source of expertise with respect to the medical, laboratory & associated standards.
Required skills and experience:
- Suitable degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent higher education or experience
- Proven track record from similar background: test house/manufacturer/service engineer/lead auditor background
- Good IT skills, experience with Excel, Word and data retention systems
- Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
- Ability to fault find down to component level
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory would be desirable
- Sound working knowledge of component-level electronics
- Ability to read and determine applicability of national/international codes and standards for the product being tested and/or evaluated
- Ability to read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions
- Experience in testing of products in accordance with relevant safety standards: IEC/EN 60601-1/61010-1
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of manufacturing systems
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
About the opportunity:
You will manage the preparation, testing, reporting and outgoing of samples for sorting, filing and management of both electronic and hard copy documents. In addition, you will engage in a wide range of laboratory and administrative activities to ensure efficient and effective technical support is provided.
Key activities:
- Set-up and delivery of specified test programs for safety evaluations for Intertek’s medical and laboratory client base. Core tests include, but are not limited to rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, mechanical hazard, flammability, etc.
- Assess technical documentation and processes against standard requirements
- Produce final evaluation and stage reports detailing summary and project findings
- Review of client requirements and preparation of test plans/quotations in liaison with relevant sales staff
- Provide technical support to the business
- Attend customer calls and meetings
- Ensure evaluations are conducted in conjunction with Intertek’s quality system and accreditation requirements
- Performing other tasks as per needs of the business
