As the Certification Engineer, you will have strong analytical skills, enabling you to review technical documentation, make sound engineering judgements, and support certification decisions. Required skills and experience:
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent in terms of education, experience, or training.
- Experience in testing and/or certification of electrical products.
- Experience with switchgear and control gear products and standards (IEC 61439 series).
- Ability to make sound engineering judgements based on relevant professional experience.
- Ability to scrutinise and compare technical documents.
- Good IT literacy skills (Microsoft Office).
Key activities:
- Conducting certification activities (Recommendation and Certification Decision) for all schemes.
- Preparation, review and authorisation of test programmes.
- Creation and checking of certificates and technical reports.
- Assessment of laboratories to ISO 17025 and Intertek Requirements.
- Witnessing of testing activities undertaken as part of the ASTA schemes.
- Processing and management of enquiries, quotations and orders for type testing and certification.
- Regular monitoring of project status including discussions with colleagues in other offices.
- Supporting of sales teams to progress the technical aspects of the sales process.
- Liaising with clients, including the development of professional relationships and providing technical support.
- Undertaking project work primarily for products within the IEC 61439 series of standards.
