ABOUT YOU: You are an experienced laboratory professional and confident Team Leader, responsible for the day-to-day leadership, performance, and delivery of high-quality laboratory testing services. You excel at managing team workloads, ensuring compliance with QHSE standards, and consistently delivering strong results across quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity. Leading by example, you combine strong technical expertise with effective people management skills to develop team capability and support the delivery of growth strategy. While remaining hands-on in the laboratory, you play a key role in shaping team performance and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Required skills and experience:
- Degree in a scientific discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a UKAS-accredited laboratory
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team
- Strong technical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Proficient in MS Office and laboratory systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Hands-on, flexible, and able to work under pressure

As Team Leader, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate, timely, and fully compliant testing services, supporting client operations across the energy sector. In this role, you will play a key part in driving team performance, enhancing technical capability, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead and prioritise daily team workload to ensure efficient delivery in line with technical standards and client requirements
- Act as a role model, driving high performance and ensuring quality and customer expectations are consistently met
- Manage client quotations, purchase orders, and contract reviews in line with authority limits
- Develop, train, and support team members to build technical capability and performance
- Oversee analysis turnaround, reporting accuracy, and authorised sign-off of results and billing
- Maintain strong customer relationships and represent the business externally
- Ensure equipment reliability, calibration, and reporting of faults or non-conformance's
- Support KPI tracking, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to projects, method development, and validation activities
- Manage stock levels and ensure operational readiness of the laboratory
- Drive a high-performance, customer-focused culture with a focus on continuous improvement
- Identify business growth opportunities and support commercial activities
