The Welding Specialist is responsible for performing, supervising, and ensuring high-quality welding and fabrication activities in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, safety standards, and applicable industry codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform welding activities using approved welding procedures.
  • Execute various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, FCAW, SAW (where applicable).
  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy materials as required.
  • Prepare and fit materials prior to welding.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Fabricate and assemble structural or piping components.
  • Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, and finishing operations.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy and alignment of fabricated parts.
  • Verify weld quality in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding.
  • Coordinate or assist with NDT inspections such as UT, RT, MT, and PT.
  • Ensure compliance with approved WPS and PQR documentation.
  • Follow all site safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and welding safety equipment.
  • Maintain fire prevention and hot-work safety measures.
  • Identify and report workplace hazards.
  • Operate and maintain welding machines and related tools.
  • Inspect equipment before use and report defects.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of welding consumables and gases.
  • Maintain welding logs and production records.
  • Record weld traceability information and material heat numbers.
  • Submit inspection reports and daily progress updates.
  • Assist in preparing turnover and completion documentation.

Deliverables: completed welds meeting project specifications, inspection and quality records, welding activity reports, material traceability documentation, safety compliance records.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as Welding and NDT Inspector.
  • CSWIP and/or ISO 9712 Level II (MT-RT-UT) certification or equivalent.
  • Welding and NDT knowledge, with familiarity of QA/QC Welding Management Systems.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office packages.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgy, welding engineering principles, and inspection/certification requirements (PED, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of radioprotection principles.
