We have an opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst to join our expanding Fuels and Lubricants team in Farnborough. This role offers hands-on analytical work within a specialist laboratory environment, supporting independent testing and consultancy services for high-profile clients across the sector.
About You
You’ll have practical laboratory experience and enjoy working with experimental test methods in a structured, quality-driven environment. Ideally, you’ll have previous exposure to fuels and lubricants testing, strong attention to detail, and confidence in interpreting technical data. You’re comfortable communicating findings clearly, work well as part of a team, and are flexible in your approach to working hours and responsibilities.
Required skills and experience:
- Previous experience in chemical, analytical, and lab testing is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to compile data reports and word reports.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Manage multiple priorities with close attention to detail.
- Able to follow instructions as well as being a solutions provider.
- Able to work unaided and be a self-starter.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the OCM Laboratory Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for carrying out and coordinating laboratory testing, interpreting results, and supporting customers with technical insight. The role is full-time and permanent, operating within a 37.5-hour working week, with some on-call rotation and occasional UK travel. Intertek will provide full training, mentoring and development to support your continued professional growth.
Key Activities
- Undertake and coordinate laboratory testing using established analytical methods.
- Interpret test data and produce clear, meaningful conclusions.
- Provide technical advice to customers regarding test results and product analysis.
- Maintain existing laboratory equipment and support the commissioning of new methods.
- Ensure full compliance with quality, accreditation and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all testing activities.
- Support continuous improvement within laboratory operations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to meet service delivery requirements.
- Adhere to all health, safety and manual handling requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation and support business needs as required.
