Due to continued growth and increasing client demand, Intertek is looking for a Biological Characterisation Scientist to join our expanding team in Melbourn.This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic scientist who is looking to develop their career within a leading pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical testing laboratory. You'll work alongside experienced scientists, supporting the delivery of high-quality analytical services for a range of global clients while gaining hands-on experience with a variety of biological characterisation techniques.Whether you're already working in industry or have gained valuable laboratory experience through a placement or postgraduate studies, we'd love to hear from you.ABOUT YOUWe're looking for someone with a passion for science, strong laboratory skills and a willingness to learn. You'll enjoy working as part of a collaborative team, have excellent attention to detail and be motivated to deliver high-quality work in a regulated laboratory environment.Required skills and experience:A BSc or MSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or another relevant scientific disciplineLaboratory experience in biological analysis, cell culture or related techniquesExperience of biological assays such as ELISA or cell-based assays (desirable)An understanding of GMP or other regulated laboratory environments (desirable)Good laboratory practice and excellent attention to detailStrong communication and organisational skillsThe ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a teamA proactive attitude and enthusiasm for learning new techniquesABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYAs a Biological Characterisation Scientist, you'll support the delivery of analytical testing for pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical clients, working on a variety of projects that help ensure the quality, safety and performance of new medicines.Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll continue to develop your technical skills while contributing to high-quality scientific work in a collaborative laboratory environment.Key activities:Performing routine mammalian cell culture and biological assaysCarrying out analytical testing, including ELISA and cell-based assaysSupporting method development, optimisation and validation activitiesGenerating accurate scientific data and maintaining clear laboratory recordsInterpreting results and contributing to technical reportsMaintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a clean, organised working environmentWorking in accordance with GMP, company procedures and health and safety requirementsCollaborating with colleagues across the laboratory to deliver projects on time and to a high standardContinuously developing your technical knowledge and laboratory skillsWHAT WE OFFERJoin Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
