We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Building Supervisor/Yards Person at our West Thurrock Laboratory. This is a critical role within our operation, supporting the safe and efficient running of our laboratories. You will oversee maintenance and facilities management across the building, as well as the organisation and control of sample storage, gas cylinders and replacements, and waste management for all laboratory areas.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a proactive Building Supervisor/Yard Person with proven experience in overseeing daily building operations, including maintenance and facilities management. A solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations is essential.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a proactive and hands‑on individual to take responsibility for the smooth day‑to‑day operation of our building and surrounding areas, including exterior sample stores, yard, and parking facilities. You will play a key role in supervising on‑site building works and ensuring our facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Key activities

  • Supervise and organise any building work carried out onsite
  • Ordering, handling and replacing gases for the laboratory when required
  • Ordering, handling and replacing solvent drums when required
  • Liaise with couriers to dispatch samples from the laboratory
  • Maintaining the sample retention stores in good working order
  • Assist in sample collections when required
  • Assisting your line manager in the selection and recruitment of new staff
  • Liaise with approved waste collection contractors to dispose of samples and other waste produced onsite
  • Supervise building work carried out on site, ensuring contractors comply with company procedures and the provisions of Health and Safety regulations
