Overview
We\\\’re hiring an experienced Automation Inspector to support the Liverpool Bay CCS Transport and Storage Project. Working closely with suppliers, contractors, and engineering teams, you\\\’ll inspect, verify, and supervise the installation and commissioning of automation, safety, and control systems, ensuring full compliance with technical specifications and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee installation and commissioning of control panels, SCADA, PLCs, and safety systems
- Verify communications between instrumentation and control rooms
- Supervise the setup of video surveillance, fire/gas detection, and leak protection systems
- Ensure integration of distributed monitoring and control systems
- Review and interpret technical documentation (loop diagrams, logic diagrams, I/O lists)
- Verify calibration and performance of field instruments and controllers
- Monitor compliance with IEC and project-specific standards
- Liaise with vendors and resolve technical issues or non-conformities
- Prepare inspection/test reports, track punch lists, and support final documentation
- Champion HSE standards and participate in audits where required
Qualifications
- Senior-level experience in automation/instrumentation for oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure
- In-depth knowledge of DCS, PLC, SIS, and SCADA systems
- Familiarity with commissioning, calibration tools, and loop testing
- Strong understanding of international standards (IEC, ISA)
- Experience with integrated fire/leak detection and telecoms systems
- Skilled in reading P&IDs, control narratives, and architecture diagrams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent in English; other languages are a plus
