ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced Welding Inspector with over 10 years in oil and gas, including 6+ years in inspection roles. Certified in CSWIP and/or ISO 9712 Level II, you have strong knowledge of welding processes, NDT, and quality standards. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and uphold high safety and ethical standards.
Required skills and experience
- Technical diploma
- Welding certified 3.1 CSWIP-Equivalent or greater
- NDT certified ISO 9712 level II (MT-RT-UT) - Equivalent or greater.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the O&G industry
- Minimum 6 years of experience as Welding and NDT Inspector
- Good knowledge of MS Office Packages
- Excellent knowledge of welding and NDT techniques, basic knowledge of metallurgy and welding engineering principles, good knowledge of pressure vessel/piping inspection and certification requirements (PED etc)
- Good knowledge of QA/QC Welding Management Systems
- Basic knowledge of construction and commissioning HSE requirements and standards implementation
- Basic knowledge of radioprotection principles and main requirements
- Flexible and proactive individual with excellent communication skills and problem solving
- High ethical standard for own and team members' work
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Welding Specialist is responsible for performing, supervising, and ensuring high-quality welding and fabrication activities in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, safety standards, and applicable industry codes.
Welding Operations
- Perform welding activities using approved welding procedures.
- Execute various welding processes including SMAW, GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, FCAW, and SAW where applicable.
- Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy materials as required.
- Prepare and fit materials prior to welding.
Fabrication & Assembly
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
- Fabricate and assemble structural or piping components.
- Perform cutting, grinding, beveling, and finishing operations.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and alignment of fabricated parts.
Quality Assurance & Inspection
- Verify weld quality in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Conduct visual inspections before, during, and after welding.
- Coordinate or assist with NDT inspections such as UT, RT, MT, PT.
- Ensure compliance with approved WPS and PQR documentation.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all site safety regulations and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and welding safety equipment.
- Maintain fire prevention and hot-work safety measures.
- Identify and report workplace hazards.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain welding machines and related tools.
- Inspect equipment before use and report defects.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of welding consumables and gases.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain welding logs and production records.
- Record weld traceability information and material heat numbers.
- Submit inspection reports and daily progress updates.
- Assist in preparing turnover and completion documentation.
