An experienced and hands-on laboratory professional with a strong interest in testing crude oil, gas, and produced waters. Brings capability across both routine methods and advanced analytical techniques, including GC and MS, with a clear understanding of the importance of accurate data in supporting quality and compliance. Required skills and experience:

About the opportunity:

This role is suited to an analyst with the appropriate level of experience seeking to further develop technical skills within a fast-paced, quality-driven analytical environment. The Analyst Grade 1 will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering accurate, timely, and compliant testing services to support client operations across the energy sector. The position offers exposure to a wide range of analytical techniques and provides a strong foundation for career progression within Intertek’s global laboratory network.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine laboratory testing and analysis in accordance with approved methods, standard operating procedures, and Intertek Total Quality Assurance standards.
  • Prepare samples, reagents, and standards accurately and safely, ensuring full compliance with laboratory protocols.
  • Operate laboratory equipment correctly and responsibly, reporting any faults, deviations, or non-conformances promptly.
  • Record test results clearly and accurately in laboratory information systems, worksheets, and logs.
  • Support the preparation of technical results and reports for review by senior analysts or authorised signatories.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment in line with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) requirements.
  • Comply at all times with corporate and local quality systems and accreditation standards, including ISO 17025 where applicable.
  • Report hazards, unsafe acts, near misses, incidents, or accidents in line with Intertek procedures and demonstrate stop-work authority where required.
  • Support senior colleagues with routine tasks, continuous improvement initiatives, and basic method development activities.
  • Participate actively in training and competency development to build technical capability and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively within the team to meet turnaround times, quality targets, and customer expectations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and act as a positive ambassador for Intertek in all internal interactions.
