Customer Service Engineer – Software Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire Salary: TBC Hours: Monday to Thursday: 08:30 to 17:00 (½ hour for lunch) Friday: 08:30 to 16:00 (½ hour for lunch) Note: Overtime will be required when traveling to/from customer sites. Main Purpose of the Job Installation and commissioning of new machinery, servicing of existing machinery, and providing machine breakdown support. Key Responsibilities: Perform site visits for installation, commissioning, training, upgrades, and breakdowns. Write, debug, and commission software onsite for production line integrations. Provide remote software diagnostics and support for machine breakdowns, upgrades, and installations. Offer telephone and/or email support for machine breakdowns. Liaise with internal support teams to ensure that the support log is up to date with customer status. Assist in producing quotes for customers for parts and/or support. Support the in-house software/electrical team with the commissioning and testing of machines before shipment. Complete internal documentation such as test plans, validation documents, etc., as part of the company’s commitment to quality. Liaise effectively with in-house personnel to resolve build and design issues as required. Essential Qualifications: A recognized qualification in Electronic/Electrical/Control Engineering (e.g., BTEC HNC). Background in Electrical/Software (PLC) Engineering. 5 years of experience in servicing machinery. 5 years of experience in fault-finding machinery. 5 years of basic programming experience with Siemens/Allen Bradley software. Desirable Qualifications: Degree educated in electrical/control systems engineering. Chartered or working towards chartered status. Electrical certification for working with 3-phase installations. Experience installing/commissioning packaging machinery or production lines. Experience in line validation and completing validation documentation. Skills and Personal Attributes: Ability to fault-find machines and implement reliable solutions. Ability to recommend product development features to improve the product range. Fully conversant with MS Office. Effective team player with excellent communication skills. Prepared to travel within the UK and overseas for service, installations, and inspections.
