Location: Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel

With a major refurbishment planned for 2026, the Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel is entering an important new chapter. To help shape what comes next, Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA are seeking a strategic, compliance-driven Maintenance Manager to lead the hotel’s engineering operations and ensure the business is fully prepared for transformation. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to take ownership of a complex, high-visibility role — balancing day-to-day operational excellence with longer-term planning, stakeholder engagement and regulatory assurance.

Who We Are

Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA is part of the world’s largest independent hotel management company. We work with internationally recognised brands including Hilton, IHG, Accor and Marriott, delivering exceptional guest experiences across diverse destinations. Our culture is built on a genuine “people first” approach, where development, inclusion and opportunity sit at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity

This role sits at a pivotal point in the hotel’s lifecycle. As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the property operates seamlessly today, while laying the technical and compliance foundations for a successful refurbishment journey. You’ll lead all maintenance activity across the hotel, maintaining brand standards for safety, presentation and reliability, while acting as a trusted advisor to ownership and senior stakeholders in preparation for future works. Compliance will be a central focus — from statutory requirements and health & safety legislation to brand audits and inspections — with robust systems and records underpinning everything you do. Working closely with contractors, suppliers and internal teams, you’ll ensure planned and reactive maintenance is carefully prioritised, budgets are effectively controlled and disruption to the guest experience is kept to an absolute minimum. You’ll also play a key role in sustainable operations as the hotel’s Energy Champion, supporting environmental initiatives and long‑term efficiency improvements. This is a leadership role rather than a hands‑on repair position, requiring strong organisation, influence and commercial judgement alongside technical understanding.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a proven maintenance leader with experience in hospitality or a similarly complex operational environment. You’ll bring a strong understanding of compliance, building systems and contractor management, alongside the confidence to work with ownership and senior stakeholders in a refurbishment‑ready environment. You’ll be proactive by nature, comfortable planning ahead and communicating clearly, with the ability to set standards, allocate resources and guide your team without needing to be on the tools every day. Strong IT capability and confidence working with property and maintenance systems is essential.

What’s In It For You

As part of Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA, you’ll benefit from industry‑leading training and leadership development, discounted hotel stays across our portfolio, competitive pay, uncapped incentives and a wide range of wellbeing and lifestyle benefits. From Wagestream and employee assistance to career breaks, meals on duty and free parking, we’re committed to supporting you both professionally and personally. At Aimbridge, our people are the heart of our success. We’re proud to offer A Place to Grow, where expertise is recognised and careers are shaped with intention. If you’re ready to take ownership of a role with real influence — and play a defining part in preparing a hotel for its next chapter — we’d love to hear from you.
