Interstate Assembly System's is a fast-paced production and design of customer vehicle up-fits and high-quality assemblies built to your precise specification. Our engineering team works directly with our customers on concepts, designs, and product development and we are looking for a Designer or Drafter to add to our team at our New Century Kansas location.
Job Duties:
- Strong Knowledge of Mechanical design of component and assembly for heavy-duty trucks using SolidWorks modeling
- Produce drawings from models, layouts, sketches and marked-up prints
- Perform drafting using SolidWorks to create Mechanical drawings for fabrication and in-plant installation
- Reverse Engineer already fabricated R&D parts to enhance and create new drawings
- Strong communications skills and willingness to work with production personnel in a demanding manufacturing environment
- Ability to perform review of built trucks and take good detailed notes for future modifications and drawings
- Follow Engineering Change Notice process to properly revise and document all the necessary changes for future builds
Required Qualifications:
- An Associate degree in Computer Aided Design and Drafting or related experience
- Minimum 3 years of design and drafting experience on SolidWorks
- 1-3 years of experience in mechanical, electrical and/or hydraulics drafting
- Willingness to switch to different assignments in short notice and adjust to daily production build changes to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of materials and fasteners for use in fabrication and installation drawings
- Ability to multi-task and meet assigned deadlines in short notice and on time
- Strong ability to communicate with team leaders, supervisors and management
- Aptitude for detailed work
- Be willing to work overtime if necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or DraftSight a plus
- Understanding of SolidWorks PDM Vault a plus
- Preferably reside locally and/or not long daily commute
- 1-3 years of involvement in a Manufacturing and/or automotive environment
- A passion for automotive and truck building industry
Education:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- CAD Certificate or associate degree in engineering/Design/Drafting (Preferred)
