An established and highly respected consultancy that has enjoyed 25% growth annually is seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to complement their team. As the business continues with their planned expansion, this presents a genuine opportunity to progress to Director level and achieve equity shares. The company works across the rail, water, and highways sectors and delivers projects ranging from £10M to £80M each. Projects are Reading based, and flexible working is on offer with 2-3 days per week allowed to work from home, as is support towards achieving Chartered status.
The Role
- To manage a team of Quantity Surveyors, at various levels, in fulfilling their individual roles.
- Providing reports to the client's senior management on the costs associated with a wide variety of projects, which are being cost managed by their team.
- Advising and approving cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
- Establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
- Performing risk and value management and cost control.
- Advising on procurement strategy.
- Managing and advising on the tendering process, including checking and approving tender and contract documents.
- Ensuring the preparation of monthly cost/profit forecasts are being carried out.
- Providing advice and support to the team when agreeing, with the contractor, suitable sub-contractors to work on projects.
- Advising and providing support to the Claims Manager on potential contractual claims.
- Maintaining knowledge of various construction contracts.
Experience Required
- Suitable applicants will be educated to BSc or MSc Quantity Surveying and will be able to demonstrate a stable career history working for a client or main recognised contractor on civil engineering projects.
- A good understanding of NEC contracts is essential.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
