Our client, a leading UK infrastructure delivery partner, is currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) to join a major civil engineering project in Hampshire. Following recent project awards, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a long-term infrastructure programme with strong career progression.
This role would suit a Senior QS with solid NEC contract experience and a background in civil engineering, infrastructure, water, energy, or transport projects.
Role Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing commercial and contractual activities across the full project lifecycle. The Senior QS will ensure robust cost control, contractual compliance, and value for money while supporting successful project delivery. The Senior Quantity Surveyor role offers hybrid working, combining site-based, office, and home working.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of civil engineering and infrastructure works
- Issuing accurate and timely contractual notices and correspondence
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Preparing and agreeing applications for payment and valuations
- Managing variations, change control, delays, and extensions of time
- Producing monthly cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates
- Supporting tendering, procurement, and subcontract management
- Managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts
- Providing contractual advice to project and site teams
- Ensuring compliance with commercial procedures and NEC contracts
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS
- Background in civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Strong NEC3 / NEC4 contract experience
- Excellent commercial and financial management skills
- Experience producing cost reports, valuations, and contractual correspondence
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying (RICS or CICES accredited)
Desirable
- Chartered or near-chartered status (RICS / CICES)
