As a proud partner to South East Water, we are looking for an experienced Site Supervisor to join our team, supporting the delivery of a long-term mains water replacement programme across Haringey, Lewisham and Greenwich. Reporting directly to the Works Manager for Mains Water Replacement, you will lead by example, driving high standards across Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Fleet, Operational Delivery and Customer Experience, while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and right first time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire and support operational teams, always placing safety at the forefront of everything we do.
- Manage and develop Supervisors and delivery teams, ensuring colleagues receive the training, coaching and support required to remain competent and compliant.
- Promote a right first time culture to minimise rework, defects and customer complaints.
- Plan, coordinate and manage upcoming works across multiple sites to minimise disruption and avoid preventable issues.
- Review, approve and challenge contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Carry out regular safety audits and site inspections, proactively identifying hazards and driving continuous improvement.
- Oversee fleet and driver standards, ensuring vehicles are compliant and drivers adhere to company policies and the Highway Code.
- Support wider operational requirements, including: Overtime when weekend works are planned, Standby and call-out cover for weekend teams, Night working to support night-time connections where required.
About You
You will be a confident and capable people manager, able to motivate teams, manage performance and address issues constructively. You’ll communicate clearly and professionally, using diplomacy when required, and will be comfortable making independent decisions while balancing client expectations with business priorities.
Essential experience and qualifications include:
- Proven managing experience within the utilities or water sector.
- Strong working knowledge of mains water replacement and mainlaying activities.
- Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
- SSSTS minimum, with SMSTS preferred.
- Streetworks Supervisor Card.
- CSCS Gold Card (Supervisor).
- Training in safe excavations.
- IOSH qualification (desirable).
You’ll also bring a strong understanding of how water projects are delivered safely and efficiently from planning through to completion.
