An established highways and infrastructure contractor, part of a larger UK infrastructure group, is looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. You'll support a portfolio of highway maintenance and improvement schemes worth around £30 million a year across North and East London.
After three years of strong organic growth, the business has built a stable, high-performing commercial team. This is a great opportunity to develop your career with structured support from experienced Senior QSs, with a mix of site-based and hybrid working.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out on-site measurements and take-offs
- Check and verify subcontractor requisitions
- Support the management of subcontract accounts and payment applications
- Assist in valuing subcontractor works and preparing interim and final payments
- Help prepare monthly cost and value reports (CVRs)
- Assist with preparing and submitting project variations
- Raise and process subcontract and material/plant orders
- Maintain accurate commercial records and contribute to cash flow management
- Provide day-to-day commercial support to site teams
About you
- HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline (or currently studying towards one)
- 1-2 years' experience in a QS or commercial role, ideally in highways, civils, infrastructure or utilities
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts (ICC knowledge is a bonus), or a keen willingness to learn
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and good communication skills
- Full UK driving licence (if site travel is required)
