Due to the award of a major long-term infrastructure project, a leading UK Civil Engineering Contractor with an annual turnover exceeding £500 million is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team in Suffolk. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a highly respected contractor at the start of a flagship project within the energy and infrastructure sector. Operating across civil engineering, utilities and energy, the business continues to experience significant growth, with its energy division securing a strong pipeline of major projects. The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for an initial £15 million civil engineering scheme, with further high-value work expected to follow as the framework develops. Working under NEC contracts, you will manage the full commercial lifecycle of the project from award through to final account, while supporting project delivery teams and mentoring junior commercial staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects
- Administer contracts under NEC Terms & Conditions
- Manage subcontract procurement, payments and commercial performance
- Prepare and present Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports
- Monitor project costs, forecasts and commercial performance
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks
- Prepare and agree variations, compensation events and final accounts
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
- Support and mentor Assistant and Quantity Surveyors
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery
About You
To be considered, you will ideally have:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial discipline
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Utilities or Energy projects
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Experience managing subcontractors and delivering accurate CVR reporting
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence
