Head of Commercial Governance & Bid Assurance | Senior Leadership Role | Reporting to Commercial Director
Intersect Global is recruiting on behalf of a leading Tier 1 UK contractor for a Head of Commercial Governance & Bid Assurance. This is a senior leadership appointment reporting directly to the Commercial Director, offering excellent opportunity for career progression within a growing, high-performing commercial function.

About the Role
You'll take ownership of commercial governance and assurance across strategic bids and tenders group-wide, ensuring every opportunity pursued aligns with business goals, risk appetite and profitability targets.
Working closely with divisional teams, you'll act as the trusted expert on pricing strategy, commercial risk and tender governance supporting high-value opportunities from initial identification through to contract award. You'll review commercial proposals, bring market and pricing insight to the table, and help protect and grow margin across the group's work-winning activity.
You'll also help shape the group's commercial approach more broadly developing best practice, delivering training, and strengthening commercial controls across the business. Working alongside legal, procurement, project and operational teams, you'll help secure favourable contract outcomes, manage commercial risk, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.

What You'll Bring
Commercial & Contract Expertise:
- Strong command of construction contracts, delivery models and commercial management frameworks
- Experience across a range of contracting arrangements capital delivery, alliancing, term maintenance and framework agreements
- Familiarity with standard and bespoke contract forms, including identifying and mitigating onerous terms
- Ability to track pricing performance from tender through delivery, feeding learnings back into estimating and bid teams
Risk & Governance:
- Experience embedding tender governance frameworks and work-winning processes within a Tier 1 UK contracting environment
- Confident identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial risk across complex projects
- Track record spotting opportunities to protect and grow margin across a bid pipeline
Leadership & Relationships:
- Strong stakeholder management across legal, procurement, delivery and operational functions
- Skilled negotiator with strong relationship-building capability
- Experience developing best practice and delivering training across a commercial function
Background & Credentials:
- 10+ years' commercial management experience within a relevant industry
- Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management or related discipline (desirable)
- Professional accreditation such as RICS or CICES (desirable)
- Comfortable working across commercial management software, contract tools and financial systems
