Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Kent
Salary: Competitive + excellent benefits

Our client, a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor working across the UK, is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Southern Region team.

Initial projects include a £12m Highways scheme in Folkestone and a major new Entry/Exit System infrastructure project at the Port of Dover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff
  • Maximising profitability on contracts
  • Monitoring contract costs against budgets
  • Identifying potential risks and evaluating options for control
  • Preparing cost estimates
  • Procuring sub-contractors, including preparation of subcontract documents
  • Assessing and certifying interim and final payments to subcontractors
  • Preparing and agreeing main contract variations
  • Assisting with documentation for dispute resolution (adjudications/arbitrations)
  • Ensuring all work complies with quality, safety, and environmental policies

What We're Looking For

  • An ambitious individual with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate across all levels of a construction environment
  • Strong numeracy and IT skills
  • Experience working on civil engineering schemes with a main contractor on Highways works
  • Experience as an SQS working with the NEC form of contract
  • Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel for this regional role
