We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering major water, wastewater, utilities and MEICA projects across the UK. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Senior QS / Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to take ownership of commercially complex infrastructure schemes, working on long-term secured frameworks with clear progression into senior commercial leadership roles.
The Role
You will take full commercial responsibility for water and utilities projects from award through to final account, ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and strong financial performance. Working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, you will support successful project delivery across multiple schemes while managing risk, change and commercial strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial management and cost control across infrastructure projects
- Prepare valuations and applications for payment
- Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts, variations and final accounts
- Produce CVRs, cost reports, forecasts and cash flow analysis
- Administer change control, compensation events and variations under NEC3 / NEC4
- Monitor budgets, risk and commercial performance
- Provide commercial support to operational and project teams
- Lead client and subcontractor commercial meetings
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution
- Mentor junior Quantity Surveyors and support team development
- Oversee commercial close-out and final account agreement
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS / Project QS / Commercial Manager
- Strong background in water, utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering or construction
- Solid NEC3 / NEC4 contract experience
- Strong cost reporting, forecasting and CVR knowledge
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline preferred
