Senior Quantity Surveyor required for a permanent opportunity with a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a £20 million earthworks, enabling works and drainage project in Kent, commencing Summer 2026. Our client has over 30 years' experience delivering complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and the award of a major new contract, they are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in earthworks, drainage, highways, infrastructure or enabling works to take commercial responsibility for a flagship NEC project from commencement through to final account.

The Role

Based on-site in Kent, the successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of a £20m civil engineering project delivered under the NEC suite of contracts. Working closely with the Commercial Manager and Project Team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of the project from contract award through to final account.
  • Administering the contract in accordance with NEC procedures.
  • Preparing monthly CVRs, cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Managing project budgets, commercial performance and cost control.
  • Assessing and agreeing applications for payment and subcontractor valuations.
  • Managing compensation events, variations and change control.
  • Procuring and commercially managing subcontract packages.
  • Undertaking measurement and remeasurement where required.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
  • Attending commercial, client and project progress meetings.

Requirements

To be considered for this Senior Quantity Surveyor position, you should have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering earthworks, enabling works, drainage, highways or major infrastructure schemes.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Excellent commercial, contractual and financial management skills.
  • Experience producing CVRs, managing change, forecasting and agreeing final accounts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.
