We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a high-profile infrastructure programme, providing operational H&S support across multiple active work sites. This position is ideally suited to someone who enjoys being site-based and working closely with delivery teams to drive high safety standards through collaboration, coaching and proactive engagement. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting safe project delivery, helping teams maintain compliance while promoting a strong and positive safety culture throughout the workforce.
Key duties will include:
- Conducting regular site audits, inspections and safety reviews
- Supporting the development and implementation of safe working practices
- Assisting with the investigation of incidents, accidents and near misses
- Providing practical health & safety guidance to operational teams and management
- Encouraging workforce engagement in behavioural safety initiatives and hazard reporting
- Carrying out ABC (Attitude, Behaviour and Culture) tours and promoting continuous improvement
- Reviewing existing procedures and identifying opportunities to strengthen H&S performance
- Assisting with pre-construction activities, tender submissions and project planning from a safety perspective
- Keeping teams informed of relevant legislative updates and industry best practice
- Building strong working relationships across site teams to support a safe and compliant working environment
Candidate requirements:
Applicants should have previous experience in a Health & Safety advisory position within sectors such as construction, civil engineering, utilities or infrastructure. You will have a solid understanding of current UK HSE legislation and be confident influencing people at all levels of a business. The role requires someone who is approachable, proactive and capable of working effectively in fast-moving operational environments.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
- Tech IOSH membership or higher
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar H&S role
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems
- Progression towards Grad IOSH status would be beneficial.
