Intersect Global is recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across Kent. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile schemes, including a £12m highways project in Kent. These projects offer long-term security, varied commercial responsibilities, and excellent career progression within a well-established contractor.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from commencement through to final account, ensuring commercial performance is maximised while maintaining contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of civil engineering and highways projects.
- Preparation of budgets, cost plans, bills of quantities and contract documentation.
- Measurement of works on site and from drawings.
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts and cash flow.
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
- Assessing and negotiating subcontractor quotations.
- Preparing, pricing and agreeing variations.
- Producing interim valuations and agreeing final accounts.
- Managing subcontractor accounts, including payment applications and certifications.
- Supporting the resolution of contractual issues, claims and disputes.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, quality standards, health & safety and environmental requirements.
- Working closely with operational teams to maximise project profitability.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering, highways or infrastructure sector.
- Good understanding of NEC forms of contract.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and variations.
- Strong commercial awareness and cost management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
