We are working in partnership with a leading civil engineering contractor that is dynamic, innovative and highly regarded for the quality of work it delivers. Due to continued growth and project wins, they are now seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the Southern Region. The role will initially be based on a large critical infrastructure scheme in New Bridge near Eastbourne, with the programme expected to run for approximately 18 months, commencing in early 2026. The project scope includes highway and bridge construction works.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of the project, working closely with delivery teams and supporting the development of junior staff. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members
- Maximising profitability across contracts
- Monitoring contract costs against approved budgets
- Identifying commercial and contractual risks and implementing control measures
- Preparing cost estimates and forecasts
- Procuring subcontractors, including preparation of subcontract documentation
- Assessing and certifying interim and final subcontractor payments
- Preparing, submitting and agreeing main contract variations
- Assisting with the preparation of documentation for dispute resolution, including adjudication and arbitration
- Ensuring all works comply with quality, safety and environmental policies and company procedures
About You
Our client is looking for an ambitious and commercially astute individual who brings:
- Strong communication skills and a flexible, confident approach
- Innovative problem-solving ability and the confidence to negotiate at all levels
- Excellent numeracy and IT skills to manage the financial demands of the role
- Proven experience working on civil engineering projects with a main contractor
- Previous experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor under the NEC form of contract
Travel & Licence
This is a regional role, therefore candidates must be willing to travel and hold a full UK driving licence.
