This organisation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of overvoltage and surge protection devices and components for electrical, electronic and telecoms systems. With c500 employees worldwide, they are passionate about innovation and development whilst delivering the highest quality products to their clients across Energy and Utilities (Oil & Gas, Wind, Solar, Nuclear), Power Transmission, Transportation (Railways, Aerospace, EV infrastructure), Telecoms, Data centres and Manufacturing.
In order to further expand their UK presence, they are seeking to appoint a Business Development and Specification Manager to increase market share and help grow sales revenues. This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to join a well established brand name whilst giving you the freedom to focus your energies on developing business in the industry sectors that you know best. The role will be home based with travel to client locations as required.
The Business Development and Specification Manager role requires you to develop relationships with existing and new clients, to ensure the company’s overvoltage and surge protection devices are written into client specifications.
Experience
You must have a technical qualification and previously worked in a technical role, perhaps as an Electrical or Electronics Engineer as well as proven experience in business-to-business sales or specification or market development roles within the electrical switchgear or power management industry. In depth experience in the surge protection sector would be of benefit but it is not essential.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an action plan for short and medium term objectives
- Map target industries, stakeholders, identify key players across manufacturing industries, regulatory and professional associations, consultants and contractors.
- Contact and meet these key players, alone or with the Sales Manager.
- Present company and products ranges, deliver technical training and advice
- Attend exhibitions as an exhibitor or visitor
- Regular reporting to the sales manager
Skills
You are both part of a worldwide dynamic international team but also operating on your own day to day. You will manage your own activities and objectives day to day and know when to seek support. You are autonomous but not independent. Creative, proactive and resilient in the long-term process of specification. Good communication skills. Highly skilled in prospection and identifying new business opportunities.
