Contract Delivery Manager

Public Sector experience desirable 

Location: Open – Travel will be required Contract Type: 6 Months Outside IR35Day Rate: Up to £450 a day 

About the Role

I'm seeking an experienced Delivery Manager to join a high-profile public sector programme on a contingent contract basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading delivery teams, driving outcomes, and ensuring services are user-focused, efficient, and aligned with government digital standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven Delivery Manager who thrives in complex environments, can navigate public sector governance, and is confident managing multidisciplinary teams to deliver at pace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead agile delivery teams to ensure projects meet time, cost, and quality objectives.

  • Remove blockers, manage risks and dependencies, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Work closely with product owners, service designers, and technical leads to align delivery with user needs and strategic goals.

  • Support stakeholders with clear communication, reporting, and expectation management.

  • Champion agile practices across the team and wider organisation.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record as a Delivery Manager within the UK public sector.

  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methods (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFe, etc.).

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex, fast-paced environments.

  • Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards and assurance processes.

Desirable

  • Experience with large-scale digital transformation programmes.

  • Understanding of service design and user research in the public sector context.

  • Previous security clearance (SC/DV) is advantageous.
