Senior Operational Risk Manager Hybrid – London (2 days per week in-office) Are you ready to take ownership of operational risk oversight at a forward-thinking challenger bank undergoing a major transformation? We’re supporting a dynamic and fast-growing financial institution in the search for a Senior Operational Risk Manager . This is a critical hire into a second-line risk function that is evolving quickly, both in terms of its operating model and technology. You’ll be joining at a pivotal time: the organisation is mid-way through a controls and governance transformation, including the implementation of a new enterprise GRC platform (MetricStream). Your role will be to provide expert oversight, data-led challenge, and help embed a more mature, insight-driven operational risk culture. What You’ll Be Doing Act as a central point of operational risk insight, challenge, and assurance across multiple business units. Represent the operational risk team in key forums, contributing to strategic and day-to-day discussions with stakeholders. Take the lead on delivering monthly and quarterly board-level risk reporting, drawing actionable insights from risk data and trends. Collaborate on the implementation and rollout of MetricStream, supporting data migration, training standards, and control updates. Provide second-line support for core risk management activities including RCSAs, KRIs, incidents, and thematic analysis. Coach and develop more junior team members while contributing to the overall performance and capability of the function. Support the development of operational risk policy, appetite statements, and group-wide risk frameworks What We’re Looking For Experience in second-line operational risk within financial services is essential. A strong analytical mindset – able to synthesise large sets of risk data and turn it into meaningful MI for senior audiences. Proven experience writing and presenting risk reports to executive committees or boards. A collaborative mindset with the confidence to constructively challenge peers across business units. Comfortable in a changing environment – ideally you’ve supported a risk or controls transformation before. Working knowledge of GRC systems – familiarity with MetricStream or involvement in a GRC system migration is highly desirable.
