As we continue to expand and transform, we are seeking an experienced Contingent Workforce Manager to oversee and optimise our contractor workforce, supporting a £1M+ annual spend across multiple technology and innovation projects.
The Role
As the Contingent Workforce Manager , you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of our external contractor workforce. You will partner with procurement, HR, technology, and external suppliers to ensure the seamless delivery, compliance, and cost-efficiency of contingent labour across our UK operations, with a core focus in London.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping our contractor strategy, delivering best-in-class workforce planning, and supporting large-scale transformation projects through agile talent solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end contractor lifecycle, including requisition, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all contractor-related matters across technology and innovation functions.
- Partner with procurement and preferred suppliers to manage agency relationships, negotiate rates, and ensure contract compliance.
- Track, report, and analyse contingent workforce spend, providing strategic insights to senior stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to IR35 regulations, legal compliance, and internal governance protocols.
- Champion process improvement and automation initiatives to increase workforce efficiency and reduce operational risk.
- Collaborate closely with HR and Talent Acquisition teams to align contractor usage with permanent hiring strategies.
- Maintain market awareness of contractor trends, rate benchmarks, and sourcing best practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience managing a large-scale contingent workforce programme, ideally within a global or enterprise technology environment.
- Strong understanding of UK labour regulations, particularly IR35, and contingent workforce compliance standards.
- Commercial acumen with experience managing seven-figure contractor budgets.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and supplier negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with Vendor Management Systems (VMS), MSP/RPO models, and workforce analytics tools.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to operate both tactically and at a leadership level.
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable navigating complex, fast-paced environments.
