Location: Hybrid – London (2–3 days per week)
Contract: Up to 6 months
Rate: Up to £1200 per day (Inside IR35)
The Opportunity
My client, a retail giant, is embarking on one of the most ambitious technology and business transformations in UK retail — a multi-year programme to deliver a next-generation ERP platform and digital capability. This initiative will redefine how they serve customers, manage operations, and compete in an increasingly dynamic market.
They are seeking a Senior Commercial Leader to help shape and deliver the commercial strategy underpinning this transformation. Reporting to the Head of UK Procurement and operating at executive level, you will lead commercial governance and contract execution across a highly complex, multi-supplier ecosystem — ensuring every decision drives value, mitigates risk, and accelerates business benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the commercial approach for one of the UK’s largest retail ERP transformations.
- Lead negotiations with SAP, Accenture (preferred SI partner), and other cloud service providers.
- Champion innovative commercial models, performance incentives, and cost optimisation to drive long-term business agility.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the C-suite and Programme Board, providing commercial direction, risk insight, and opportunity analysis.
Essential Experience
- Senior leadership in commercial/procurement roles on major ERP or digital transformation programmes (£50m+).
- Strong expertise in ERP commercial models (ideally SAP) and multi-vendor delivery.
- Track record in high-value contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and risk control.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and governance skills.
- Retail or consumer-facing background, ideally with complex supply chains and omnichannel operations.
The Person
- Commercially strategic, execution-driven, and unafraid to challenge the status quo.
- Adept at balancing pace with rigour in high-stakes environments.
- Collaborative, confident, and able to quickly build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders.
-
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven commercial leader to make a major impact on a high-profile transformation programme.
