Interpath Advisory is a financial advisory business with a broad range of specialisms that was formed to allow our people to do what they do best in an agile, independent and conflict-free setting. Its market-leading restructuring department is the largest independent team in the UK. Interpath was previously part of KPMG, before being sold to private equity firm HIG Capital on 4 May 2021. Following the change in ownership, Interpath continues to go through an exciting journey of rapid growth throughout the UK and internationally.

This role is in a team dedicated to delivering corporate insolvency engagements, with a focus on statutory and reporting aspects of insolvency case work. As a senior associate in this team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of corporate cases dealing predominantly with statutory and technical aspects of the insolvency process from appointment through to closure. This role is aimed at individuals with existing experience in insolvency case work who are eager to progress their career in a client facing role in a lively, stimulating and busy environment working under pressure and to deadlines.

The restructuring practice has over 500 staff in 11 offices around the UK. We work with businesses in financial stress, distress and in insolvency across all sectors and in all locations across the UK. We provide a number of service lines, including:

  • Restructuring advice to companies who are under performing or experiencing liquidity problems, and/or to their key stakeholders;
  • Accelerated M&A advice through the acquisition or sale of companies with a need for turnaround;
  • Turnaround support (including cost reduction and working capital improvement);
  • Options reviews to help businesses and/or their stakeholders take the correct action;
  • Cash forecasting & management;
  • Advice to trustees of defined benefit pension schemes, where a funding deficit requires to be met by the sponsoring employer;
  • All forms of corporate insolvency appointments to entities from sole traders to partnerships, limited companies and PLCs.

There will also be the opportunity to work with our wider UK team on insolvency assignments, often on some of the highest profile businesses in the UK.

Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will work with Interpath's restructuring colleagues and assist senior team members in delivering corporate insolvency engagements. In providing that assistance as an effective case administrator you will:

  • Work alongside experienced case administrators, case managers and engagement leaders to provide support on corporate insolvency engagements;
  • Work towards ownership of a portfolio of cases, with responsibility for proactive case progression and statutory compliance;
  • Ensure all correspondence is responded to and queries dealt with effectively;
  • Prepare correspondence, minutes, file notes, emails, letters, schedules and analysis;
  • Prepare VAT returns and supporting analysis;
  • Assist the case manager or senior case administrators with statutory and other reports;
  • Process receipts, arrange payment of invoices and complete any journals needed;
  • Interact with the appointees, appointers, directors, creditors, employees, and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Ensure all statutory and Interpath best practice requirements are adhered to and compliance deadlines are achieved;
  • Participate in discussions on development and improving our business;
  • Participate in occasional marketing events to develop an internal and external network of contacts;
  • Attend to any other administrative tasks required by the role.

Requirements:

  • You will be interested in a career in insolvency with a willingness to learn quickly and operate as part of a team;
  • You have an interest in commercial and financial matters and be able to demonstrate practical common sense and commercial awareness;
  • You will have good time management and organisational skills;
  • You will be able to prioritise tasks effectively and manage multiple assignments simultaneously whilst ensuring that deadlines are met;
  • You are committed, enthusiastic, proactive and conscientious in all aspects of your work and able to produce high quality, detailed and accurate work;
  • You will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to confidently and articulately deal with all parties in what can sometimes be difficult situations;
  • You will have the ability to work innovatively and self-start, either individually or as part of a team;
  • You will consistently demonstrate a professional manner;
  • You will have the ability to assess the various alternatives for dealing with specific case issues and present suggestions to the case manager;
  • You will be willing to participate in business development;
  • You will work from home and be willing to travel on occasion to work from a client site as required;
  • You will have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

We would welcome applicants with some existing insolvency experience, although this is not a prerequisite. Additionally, Interpath supports flexible working and we would therefore welcome applications from candidates who wish to work flexibly or part-time.
