We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis to support the Deputy Head of Mission in maintaining accurate and up to date accounts for the Embassy of Peru in the UK.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitoring spending and budgets
  • Assist with coordination of internal and external communications
  • Auditing and analysing financial performance
  • Processing transactions including receipts and payments, invoices, and related activities
  • Maintaining proper books of accounts and supporting documents
  • Advising on how to reduce costs for the mission
  • Ensuring that financial statements and records comply with laws and regulations in Peru
  • Producing accurate, useful, and timely reports for controlling the budget of the diplomatic mission
  • Reconciling payments to ensure the accounting system reflects the correct transactions
  • Ensuring internal control mechanisms and budget management are observed for purposes of minimizing financial risk
  • Submitting to the Deputy Head of Mission the financial reports as required in a timely manner
  • Preparing tax returns to claim a refund of the import VAT for the diplomatic mission

  • 1-3 years experience in Accounting & Administrative area
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in administration and calendar management in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management
  • Ability to multi‑task, prioritise tight deadlines and be flexible to meet workload demands
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Native Spanish speaker
