For over a decade, 3D Printing Industry has been recognised for its expertise in the field of 3D printing, reporting on the latest industry news and updates from around the globe. A major part of our business is testing and reviewing 3D printers of all levels (desktop to industrial) in order to provide engineering reports to manufacturers, and product reviews to our readers. 3D Printing Industry has developed a rigorous in-house testing procedure designed to evaluate all aspects of a 3D printer from an engineer's perspective.
We are looking for proficient engineers who are looking to broaden their knowledge on 3D printers and the industry, and develop a deeper understanding of the technology via hands-on work. The internship will take place at the 3D Printing Industry offices in Central London. Day-to-day activities will consist of working alongside the lead engineer to assist in tests and report on findings during said tests. Candidates will be required to work with a range of 3D printers, and carry out tests relating to the review process and report these to the team.
Description of the role: Candidates will work closely with the lead test engineer to assist in testing and reporting procedures on 3D printers. The intern will be responsible for carrying out tests that are carried out during the printer review process. These reviews are approximately 60 pages long and include different testing criteria that allow us to have a full overview on a 3D printer, hardware and software to assess its performance in the field (repeatability, capability, study of components, study of the slicer).
Prerequisites and special constraints:
- Engineering degree preferred
- Programming tools: Arduino preferred
- Design software: SolidWorks, Fusion 360
- Slicers: Cura, ChiTuBox, Simplify3D
- Scientific knowledge: image analysis, document analysis skills, quantitative mathematics preferred
