We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis to support the Deputy Head of Mission in maintaining accurate and up to date accounts for the Embassy of Peru in the UK.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitoring spending and budgets
- Assist with coordination of internal and external communications
- Auditing and analysing financial performance
- Processing transactions including receipts and payments, invoices, and related activities
- Maintaining proper books of accounts and supporting documents
- Advising on how to reduce costs for the mission
- Ensuring that financial statements and records comply with laws and regulations in Peru
- Producing accurate, useful, and timely reports for controlling the budget of the diplomatic mission
- Reconciling payments to ensure the accounting system reflects the correct transactions
- Ensuring internal control mechanisms and budget management are observed for purposes of minimizing financial risk
- Submitting to the Deputy Head of Mission the financial reports as required in a timely manner
- Preparing tax returns to claim a refund of the import VAT for the diplomatic mission

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience in administration and calendar management in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent organisational skills and time management

- Fluency in spoken and written English
