Reporting directly to the Transport Manager or Depot Team Leader, as an HGV 2 Driver you will be responsible for the safe transportation of goods from one location to another. The role involves long‑distance driving, strict adherence to road safety regulations, and the timely delivery of cargo, while upholding our values of Teamwork, Care, Customer Centricity, Respect, and Integrity in every journey.

Key Responsibilities- Operate HGV Class 2 vehicles to transport goods to various destinations.
- Ensure timely and safe delivery of goods as per the schedule.
- Follow designated routes and schedules.
- Always drive the vehicle in line with all statutory and legislative regulations.
- Adhere to all road safety and traffic regulations, including telematics and driving rules.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
- Comply with all UK and EU driving regulations and the Working Time Directive, ensuring breaks are taken.
- Use Tacho and the driving app to ensure compliance to all required driving standards.
- Maintain the health and safety of yourself and others by carrying out all activities in a manner that promotes safety.
- Load, secure, and unload goods safely; ensure load stability, security, and protection at all times.
- Use phones for work matters only as and when legally able and safe to do so.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues, defects, or delivery problems daily.
- Keep the vehicle clean and presentable; no smoking in vehicles.
- Report potential risks, problems, or product defects immediately to your Team Leader.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance; complete delivery paperwork and obtain necessary signatures.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients, customers, road users, and pedestrians.
- Handle vehicles and loads with care to avoid possible damages.
- Use equipment respectfully, safely, and as trained.
- Support other areas of the business as required, including drivers and the warehouse.
- Participate actively in continuous process improvement projects and seek ways to maximise vehicle fill, load securing, and improve customer service levels.
- Ensure all business and individual key performance indicators are met.
- Actively contribute to achieving departmental service level targets.
- Be a Leader ambassador to all customers and the public with impeccable driving and vehicle operation.
