About the Role

As Resident Services Manager, you lead the daily operations of our Kennington Lane residence, ensuring the smooth running of the accommodation services and the wellbeing of our diverse student community.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational management, staff supervision, resident support, compliance, and financial oversight. You will foster a welcoming and safe environment where residents feel supported and valued, while maintaining the high standards we are known for.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Site Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of Kennington Lane.
  • Maximise occupancy levels and income opportunities year-round.
  • Manage room inventory using the StarRez booking system.
  • Collaborate with summer educational partners to facilitate short-stay bookings.
  • Liaise with the Operations Director/Front of House Manager on operational performance and reporting.
  • Lead by example in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all residents.

People Management & Development

  • Lead, train, and develop accommodation and support staff.
  • Oversee recruitment processes in collaboration with the HR team.
  • Manage staff rotas, authorise timesheets, and coordinate holiday cover across site.
  • Support and guide Resident Advisors (Ras) to ensure effective resident engagement.
  • Oversee the daily.

Resident Support & Engagement

  • Organise and support community-building activities and events.
  • Provide professional and empathetic support to residents.
  • Liaise with Ras and other departments to address welfare concerns and ensure a positive living experience.

Compliance, Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, SheAssure, and housing standards.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors (e.g. Baxter Storey) to maintain compliance.
  • Attend Health & Safety meetings and act on recommendations.

Financial Management

  • Oversee financial processes including rent collection, debt management, and invoicing.
  • Authorise and monitor expenditure to ensure budget compliance.
  • Maintain financial accuracy in all reporting and record keeping.

Building Security & Maintenance

  • Oversee building security, including CCTV and access control systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and emergency responses.
  • Ensure all facilities meet safety and compliance standards.

Sustainability & Additional Duties

  • Act as Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) for alcohol sales.
  • Monitor energy consumption and implement sustainability initiatives.
  • Support ISH\’s broader environment goals across its sites.
  • Champion ISH\’s mission and core values, contributing to our inclusive and supportive culture.

About You

You will be a confident, people focused leader with a strong background in accommodation or facilities management. You will be organised, empathetic, and proactive, with the ability to balance operational demands and resident care.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in accommodation or facilities management, ideally within student housing.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience using StarRez or a similar property management system.
  • Financial awareness and experience in budget management.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
