ISH Venues is part of International Students House, a renowned student centre providing accommodation, social and support services to British and international students. Our venue features eight versatile spaces hosting a wide range of events, from corporate and charity functions to entertainment and club nights under our sister brand, 229 the Venue. Role Overview

We are seeking a Meeting & Events Operations Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day operational delivery of events. You will ensure that meeting rooms and event spaces are prepared to client specifications, manage a team of porters, and provide on-the-day client support, including technical assistance and room set-ups. This role is diverse and collaborative, and you will work closely with both ISH Venues and 229 to ensure all events run smoothly and the venues are fully utilised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for clients on the day of events. Meet and greet clients, run through event details, and provide fire safety briefings. Monitor client satisfaction and take corrective action as needed. Liaise with catering to ensure timely delivery of hospitality. Build strong client relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Technology & Equipment: Set up and maintain audio-visual, hybrid, and technical equipment. Troubleshoot and support clients or liaise with external technicians. Maintain equipment securely and assist with stocktakes and purchasing needs.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise Events Porters with room set-ups. Ensure team members adhere to uniform and safety requirements. Report performance issues to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Room Set-Ups & Administration: Prepare meeting rooms according to specifications and standard procedures. Ensure furniture and equipment are safe, clean, and well-presented. Maintain storage areas and display marketing, welcome, and safety materials. Prepare signage, retain floor plans, and conduct daily site checks.
  • Sales Support: Update event booking system (Rendezvous) with any changes. Obtain sign-off for additional chargeable items. Support show rounds and provide technical expertise.
  • Health & Safety: Follow safe working practices and departmental risk assessments. Ensure porters handle equipment safely and report faults or hazards.

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience in conferences and events operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • Proficient with audio-visual and technical equipment.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to handle pressurised situations with tact and professionalism.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic approach to work, including irregular hours.
