International Students House (ISH), based near Regent’s Park in central London, is a vibrant student community offering accommodation, scholarships, and social support to both UK and international students. We are looking for a dedicated Night Duty Manager to play a key role in the daily operations and success of this exciting new venture.

As a Night Duty Manager, you’ll ensure the safe, smooth, and efficient running of 238 Kennington Lane overnight—delivering excellent customer service to residents, guests, and clients while maintaining high operational and safety standards. You’ll be a calm, reliable presence, ready to handle any situation—from emergency response to guest queries—helping to make ISH a welcoming and secure home for our residents.

Working Hours

  • Part-time: 3 x 10-hour shifts per week - Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Shift patterns cover 24/7 operations on a rota basis (07:45-15:45, 15:30-23:15, 23:00-08:00, Monday-Sunday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
    • Conduct regular inspections of the premises, fire exits, and equipment.
    • Act as a Fire Marshal, taking control during emergencies and liaising with emergency services.
    • Maintain up-to-date Duty Manager records and Health & Safety documentation.
    • Act as a First Aider and Mental Health First Aider, providing assistance and support as required.
  • Security
    • Oversee cash floats, restricted keys, and secure storage areas.
    • Manage lost property, luggage rooms, and liaise with external security for events.
    • Ensure all emergency and security procedures are followed effectively.
  • Customer Service & Support
    • Deliver outstanding service to residents, guests, and visitors.
    • Handle complaints, incidents, and maintenance requests, ensuring follow-up and accurate reporting.
    • Support other departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, Conference & Events) as needed.
    • Assist in training and onboarding new team members.
  • Front Desk Duties
    • Manage reception operations overnight, including check-ins, check-outs, billing, and enquiries.
    • Respond to phone and email queries promptly and professionally.
    • Maintain accurate records in systems such as StarRez and She Assure.
    • Manage post, parcels, and guest sign-ins.
    • Support reservations and accommodation requests as required.

Experience

  • Previous experience in customer service at a supervisory level (essential).
  • Experience as a Duty Manager in a hotel or hall of residence (desirable).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices and legislation.
  • Confident computer user; knowledge of hotel or accommodation software desirable.
  • Fire Marshal, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid qualifications (training provided if not already held).
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • A second language is a plus.
